EmpowHer Institute Leads with Technology for Teen Girls at Next-Gen Conference

The Next-Gen conference is part of this year’s Women in Technology International Summit. WITI’s Annual Women Powering Technology Summit at the Marriott Hotel in Santa Clara, CA June 3-5, 2012 is the world’s leading professional organization for executive women in technology.

This micro-conference on Monday, June 4th, is designed to encourage young women and girls to consider careers in Science and Technology. Leading women in Technology will teach, mentor, and share with students through speaking engagements, mentoring panels, workshops and roundtable discussions highlighting how these women of note chose their path while reinforcing the importance of demonstrated leadership. The day will feature an opportunity to have lunch with distinguished members of the WITI Board of Advisors and Directors as well as WITI Hall of Fame Honorees.

Betty LaMarr, our Founder and Executive Director is chairing the Next-Gen committee which has responsibility for designing the program that will engage the girls selected to attend the conference. Sue Robins, an EmpowHer board member who will facilitate the experience for the girls during the conference. She  is an experienced teacher, trainer, facilitator, and invited speaker for workshops, classes and plenary sessions. Sue has a 25 year career in both the public and private sectors with a record of success in sales, sales management, marketing, software development, teaching and leadership; primarily in the areas of life and physical sciences. Sue has a B.S. in Zoology from the University of Maryland and M.S. in Education from Mt. St. Mary’s College.Susanne Robins, Director

Sue is currently owner and principal trainer of Ascend Training Solutions, a company dedicated to assisting businesses with developing their human capital. This is accomplished through customized employee development programs as well as candidate personality profiles and benchmarking. Sue is a Board Member and Education Committee Chair for the Culver City Chamber of Commerce.
